Karen Knop (SJD) (1960-2022) joined U of T's Faculty of Law as a special lecturer in 1990 and a full-time faculty member in 1992. She quickly established herself as a beloved teacher and colleague, as well as a leading voice in international law scholarship. Early in her career, she won an undergraduate teaching award, and over the years, her mentoring of graduate students helped launch many careers.
The success of the campaign for Excellence Without Barriers was unprecedented for any Canadian law school. Future and current U of T Law students are the beneficiaries of the generosity of our alumni and friends — thank you.

I had always dreamed of pursuing my law degree at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law. My acceptance brought excitement but also resulted in unease and raised concerns about how I would fund my legal education. I had always worked so I could pay for my post-secondary education.
